Who?
Ultralight Aircraft pilots from all over the U.S.
While the majority of participants will be from the Dayton Ohio area, some pilots are coming from as far away as San Diego and Washington State.
What?
A group of Ultralight Aircraft will be making a historic flight from Dayton, Ohio to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, during the very historic year of 2003.
When?
June 22 to June 28, 2003.
The trip down to Kitty Hawk will take approximately two and one-half days of leasurely flight. Ultralights usually cruise at airspeeds in the 50 to 60 MPH range, but when winds are a factor, the ground speed can easily slow to between 45 and 50. The return trip, will likey take a bit longer, due to the prevailing West winds.
Why?
For fun! Oh, Yeah!
Well yes, that's part of the reason, but primarily it is for Ultralight Pilots to honor the Wright Brothers during the most historic aviation year of our lifetimes. What better way, than to fly from the Wright's hometown to the point where they made all their hard work and dreams come true, in aircraft that are as near to what Wilbur and Orville flew, as there is in "modern" aviation.
